If you've lived in Fredericksburg all your life, or you're just passing through off Interstate 95, You're going to want to know the best spots to grab a bite around town. Whether it's a Sunday brunch, a mid week happy hour special, or a romantic dinner for two, Fredericksburg has something everyone is sure to love. Here's a few of my top local spots around town definitely worth checking out.
Sunday Brunch is probably one of my favorite times to eat out. Chances are you've been up late the night before, and you slept in a little longer than usual. It's a little too late for breakfast but not quite lunch time- what are you really supposed to eat this time of day? When I'm brunchin' I always tend to skip right over breakfast a head straight for lunch with a mimosa or bloody mary on the side. Here's a few places in The Burg that are sure to exceed your brunch expectations.
106 George St, Fredericksburg, VA 22401
Over 80% of Spencer Devon's proteins are sourced from farmers within a 50 mile radius! Every single thing I've had on their food menu is amazing. If you're going for brunch, you must try the Shrimp and grits. Not to mention they have a Bloody Mary and a Mimosa bar... can't beat extra bacon in that Bloody Mary on a Sunday morning!
2100 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401
This place may look small from the outside, and even small on the inside, but when you take a look at their brunch menu you'll realize this place is anything but small! There's so much to choose from and it's all amazing. A personal favorite of mine is definitely The G-Melt: A pulled pork BBQ and Grilled Mac and Cheese Sandwich on Texas toast. Their mimosas are also a hit as well!
Whether you're looking for something quick, or you've got some time to spend hanging out and sharing a drink or two after lunch- there's a few options in the downtown area of Fredericksburg. Be sure not to miss a few of my favorites.
1299 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg VA 22401
If you're looking for authentic BBQ that has been in Fredericksburg since 1954, Allman's is where it's at. They serve classic pulled pork with homemade sides and sauces. Hands down one of the best BBQ joints around and definitely worth a visit if you're in town! Allman's offers dine in, carry out, or even catering services!
324 William Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401
Castiglia's is a great locally owned Italian restaurant. They serve awesome Italian classics, have a great wine selection, as well as specialty pizza's you shouldn't miss out on. Be sure to check out their newly opened rooftop patio and bar! This is a great place to sit outside and people watch on a warm Spring day in Fxbg.
917 Caroline Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401
Capital Ale House is actually a Richmond, VA based chain but we are lucky enough to have a location in Fredericksburg! They have tons of beers on tap as well as in bottles, and the list is constantly being updated. The burgers are amazing- be sure to try their sweet potato fries! If you're ever in town during the Fall, check out Oktoberfest in downtown Fxbg, hosted by Capital Ale House. It's a fun event filled with beer, brats, and music.
When it comes to dessert... there's only one logical choice.
2200 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22401
Now I don't think I'd be a true Fredericksburg local if I left out Carl's. This place is a National Historic Landmark. Carl's has been serving up frozen custard since 1947 and each year people line up around the block to wait in line for the three amazing flavors Carl's has. Make sure to bring cash, because they're old school and don't accept credit cards. The line may look long, but it moves quick and you won't be disappointed!
What do you think? Want your restaurant to be featured? Do you have another favorite restaurant in Fredericksburg? I'd love to hear from you!
